Black-throated Sparrow

Photographed in Southeast Arizona.  The Black-throated Sparrow is common in desert rocky slopes and washes.  It can be observed year round in Southern Arizona to Texas, moving northwest during breeding season.

Song Sparrow

Photographed in the San Pedro Preserve Southeast Arizona.  The Song Sparrow is found in brushy areas throughout the United States, and in Canada during breeding season.

House Sparrow

Photographed in Southeast Arizona. The House Sparrow is common throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico year round.  Also known as English Sparrow.

White-crowned Sparrow

Photographed in the San Pedro Riparian Area Southeast Arizona.  They are common in woodlands, grasslands, and hedges.  They winter throughout the Middle to Southern United States migrating to northwest Canada and Alaska for breeding.

Lark Sparrow

Photographed in San Pedro Riparian Area Southeast Arizona.  They are found in open country and along road sides.  Wintering in Southern Arizona to Texas and Mexico, they migrate north to breed in most of the Midwest to Western United States

Golden-crowned Sparrow

Photographed in San Pedro Riparian Area Southeast Arizona.  Common in boreal bogs and open areas near tree lines.  They reside on the West Coast of the United States.  It was a rare opportunity to photograph this bird in Arizona.

White-throated Sparrow

Photographed in San Pedro Riparian Area Southeast Arizona.  Common in woodlands undergrowth and brush.  The White-throated Sparrow is rare in the west.

Rufous-winged Sparrow

Photographed in San Pedro Riparian Area Southeast Arizona.  Common but local, found in flat areas of tall desert grass mixed with brush and cactus.

Lincoln Sparrow

Photographed in San Pedro Riparian Area Southeast Arizona.  Found in brushy bogs, and mountain meadows throughout the United States and Canada.  

Chipping Sparrow

Photographed in Southeast Arizona.  Found in fields, woodland edges, and pine-oak forests throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  

Rufous-crowned Sparrow

Photographed in Southeast Arizona.  Found on rocky hillsides, brushy or grassy slopes in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Mexico
